I'm building a 1776 for my 66 Fastback. I'm going to be using a welded counterweighted crank, rebuilt rods, mahle 90.5 pistons, 041 heads, and it's going to be full flowed. I need suggestions for a cam, I was thinking C-35, but my dad says an Engle 110 would really make it pull. I know I should probably use 40 idf's but, I'm gonna use baby Weber 34's, can these be made to work?
Thanks,
Philip

hi... wot size valves are you running in your engine? id go for sumthin around the 110 or similar, incase you want to put higher lift rockers on, and make it bit mor responsive top end? repy with the valve sizes, and i should be able to giv a better answer, and tel us wot the engines going to be used for or wot you wnt frm it.

I'm sure on the valves yet, because I haven't gotten that far yet. I was going to use 1.4:1 rockers because I've heard the 1.25's aren't worth it. It's mainly going to be used to get to high school and back. But I would like to have some get-up and go. I wanted to go with a 4340 crank from SCAT, but my dad says it's not neccessary and since he's loaning me the money I really have no choice.
Thanks,
Philip

The 110 is the better cam to go with, it will give alot more power

Ok, will 041 heads give much of an improvement over stockers? The 041 I have are disassembled GEX heads and the stockers are already put together, so will it be worth the money getting a valve job and what ever else is necessary to run the 041 heads? Any suggestions for a distributor? I'm probably going to use a new 009 with pertronix. I'm thinking of getting straight cut cam & crank gears mostly for the sound. Any other suggestions? I need all the help I can get!
Thanks,
Philip

both heads i belive have the same valve size right, you have three options with your heads keep the stockers and go, have your heads freshend up run you about $150 or get some performance head work which can run you $200-350. What kind of carb's are you running, that will determine which distributor to run

Go for the engle 110, Should work for your application and will make good HP...

OH yea,
The Weber 34 ICTs work fine on a 1776. It what I have on mine and it makes pretty good HP

Mine is:

1776, 042 heads, CW crank, 110 cam, 1.25 rockers, 34 ICTs, hideaway exhaust w/heat exchangers, compufire ignition, 009 dist.

Good luck,
Chuck

go with the 041s and matchport your manifolds this alone is where alot of "cheap" power will be made.
