I was wondering what all the abbreviations meant on the Old split windows KDF, STD, deluxe is there more,... I don't know. So my question is what do the abbreviations mean and what do they mean as far as differences in the bug, thanks

KDF is an old split window bug from 39-late 40's. A STD bug is a Standard - which means its the basic model (no chrome, cable brakes, black knobs/steering wheel, etc.). A deluxe (late 49 and up) has chrome, hydro brakes (starting in 50), ivory steering wheel, etc.

Oh, and a KDF is $$$$$. Standards are rarer than deluxes but many peoplr prefer the deluxe over the standard - so prices are generally even.

Actually Nazi Propaganda. It was bigger than just the cars, it was a movement to inspire the downtrodden German population. Over three hundred and fifty thousand German workers contributed to a savings fund in hopes of getting a KDF Wagen, but none did. There were only about 700 cars built before production switched over to military vehicles. All of the cars built went to high ranking military and politicals. The german people got bupkis.

Unless the car is in a museum, it's highly unlikely that you'll ever run across a KDF Wagen.

by KDF wagen are you referring to any KDF car made?

I'm not sure what you mean. The first VW Beetles [as we know them] were referred to KDF Wagens. This is what I'm referring to. The few cars built between '39 and '40. When the British restarted production in '45 they were then referred to as "Volkswagens"

ok so it stared with KDF which were just supposed to be standard vehicles, just to get from place to place kind of thing? Then went to military vehicles, then VWs?
