I am interested in a 68 fastback. The guy wants 1,000 obo but it has some rear engine compartment rust, the engine is not complete (missing generator, fuel injection, and some other things. And the paint is in need of a new one, the windows look like they need new seals and the Enterior looks to be good except the dash. How could I fix the Engine area??
I think i should offer him $500,or $600 what do you guys think???
Is that a rediculous price?

It depends on the rust in the engine compartment. Surface rust? Holes big enough to toss a football through? Sounds like he wants too much, if you really want a cheap fasty keep your eyes open. I've seen quite a few solid projects for sale in the $5-600 range.

Or, just buy it, post about some fake wheelies snapping your torsion bars, and then start 4 different topics about which lights should come on.

Very funny!
I told you my bro was the one posting those ques!NO LIE!!!
The rust has holes about the size of a quarter or so, they are in the area where the deck lid seal sits and a few other holes hear and there.
I think i could be fixed what do you think???

Sure it can be fixed, but he's still asking too much. Point out all the flaws like the rust, missing engine parts, the bad window seals and everything else you find wrong with the car, and lowball him.

Good luck.

I bought a 69 fasty about 6 years ago running with a straight bodyfor $600. Only main concern was brakes were shot. Good thing was the fender wells are so rusted I can stop flinstone style

Hey Tom....May I offer you a friendly word of advice? Perhaps you should do a little more L&S (lurking and searching), there is so much info here if you just search...then you can post for explainations about the things you really do not understand or need help with once you have searched and referred to your manual. If you feel the need to yank peoples chains to get a reaction, then you might want to consider posting in Rants and Raves....they could always use some fresh meat over there  Oh, and consider strangling your "little brother"

Did you get the Fasty you were looking at today? Post some pics and update the pics of your car 8)

Another thing he said on the phone about an hour ago was that he said that the car had been sitting for about 25 years! an old guy was driving it and parked it in about 1980 and was found by his friend. They tried to start it up but it didnt even make a sound! THey just stuck a battery in it
and tried to turn the key!
They think that the engine is seized! I just think that it has been sitting for about 25 years and the starter or the fuel lines and some other things are wrong Not the Engine itself!
