I once had an Eames- era Zenith radio- phono- TV console with a BEAUTIFUL waterfall design and curved front doors. Had an AM- Shortwave- Armstrong System (soon after to be known as FM) Radio with a 78/ 33 RPM deco record changer and a 16" ROUND TV with Channel 1! Can't beat the sound on those tube type oldies with the big- ass speaker.
I just hate how the name Eames has been bastardized by the whole retro revival. There were plenty of other designers from that time frame that did good work as well. |

Turkis- I hear you. the problem is that if I don't refer to it as "Eames Era", nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. Most antique dealers out here think "Retro" is the 1970s and 1980s. Look at the bright side- They named the WHOLE ERA after Eames!!! :D
PS- What the hell ever happened to an "antique" having to be 100+ years old? Stuff that I remember like yesterday is NOT an antique.... SWEET GOD, PLEASE tell me that stuff I remember isn't "antique... |

| I try to hit as many yard sales, garage sales, swap meets and antique stores as much as I can. I'm always looking for ice chests, skateboards, bicycles, VW toys, and etc.. I just scored on a old ice chest for $2 it's pretty nice and doesn't leak. |

If I see one more teacup, mug, or green glass plate or ashtray I'm going to throw up.
I walked by a booth with this old, fat, toothless woman and there was NOTHING but china teacups, saucers, vases, and knicknacks in it. THAT is why I never go to flea markets anymore---retards like that who think knicknacks and collectibles that last longer than anything else are worthy antiques and take up all the space. It seems that's all that's in my way when I'm making a beeline to the good stuff. Glassware. China. Ashtrays. Saltshakers shaped like little birdies.
Please. |

| I go to The Brass Armadillo about once a month. I spend 4-5 hours there. I usually don't come home with much but it's fun to look through all that old stuff. |

I usually go to the flea markets and hit garage sales every weekend when the weathers nice. I've been told many times "No More garage sales!" |

Last summer, after combing tons of worthless yard sales (kid's clothes & toys junk) I snagged a MIB "Scotch" plaid grille, (Same pattern as the Scotch Coolers) still in the box, never used... THREE bucks!
The Seller told me it was some POS that her parents got for a wedding gift in the late 1950's or early-60's that sat in the attic since their wedding day. I got a nice price for it at the next VW swap meet, too. :D |

I had nearly a whole set but being that I like to use my stuff, it started getting all scratched up so I sold it at an OCTO/Classic or some such. :? |

This was my latest find. It needed some elbow grease and a new lamp shade but, other than that its a nice piece! And cherry wood to boot!

Several years ago I found this in an Albertson's Food Market dumpster. Its life size from the waist up and made out of 1/4 thick cardboard. And, no this has NOT been photo shopped, its the real thing.

| I believe it was used (John Elway, Denver Broncos) as a display piece in the store during one of the late Super Bowls. After the display was taken down this and another one just like it was thrown away in the dumpster. I sold one on E-Bay and kept this one. |
