In order to remove some rust thats popping put from under the rubber I would like to remove and re-install the windshield of my girls ’72 notchback.
I’ve removed and installed windows in bugs before but the rounded glass of the notch looks harder to do.
I know the procedure but has anyone got any tips?
I hate to break the glass as replacements are hard to find. |

"Be extremely careful!" is all I can suggest.
A "professional" cracked the replacement he was installing on mine. I haven't gotten up the nerve to try it myself. Yet. |

| All I can say is get a high quality, name brand gasket, such as WCM. I once cracked a windshield trying to install a crappy Brazilian gasket. |

| The seals that Wolfsburg West sell are a softer compound and would reduce the odds of breaking the windshield. Cut the old seal off rahter than try to salvage it of course. Keifernet swears by starting at the top when installing curved glass. You may want to pm him. |

WCM seals work but a lot of them are not "high quality" when compared to real VW seals. |

| Use a LOT of soap. I prefer that hand "lotion" soap myself. |

| T3D doesn't show window rubber on their website right now, but they do have a lot of other hard to find parts. |

If you have good long distance, I would try giving them a call. I am sure they don't list everything on their site.
Other than that, NOS seals are gonna be hard to come by.
I put WCM seals on my Notch and was pretty damn happy with them. The vent wing seals were a little shady though. I had to cut and modify them to fit. Almost like their casting was off.
