Hey guys, What is going to be my most economical and effective way to upgrade the cooling system of my 1500sp? Also, what should be my running temps with this engine. It's in a ghia... Thanks a lot! Hunter

You should convert to doghouse. (if it isnt already). Thats it. Theres not enough airflow anwhere for an external oil cooler.
make sure you have all your tin. A rule of thumb for stock motors is you should not be able to see the ground while looking under the decklid.

I'm already in the dog house... what about these things that bolt-on (I guess to the bottom) that add a quart or so to your total? Is that a gimic, etc? And... What should my running temp be between to start with?

If your engine is stock, then your best bet is to keep the cooling system stock and keep the engine in tune. You won't overheat if these two things are met.

it wouldnt hurt to put a sump, but you wont see much (if any) change in temp.

The most economical way to upgrade your cooling system is to leave it alone. A totally stock engine requires no modifications to the cooling system.
When you ask temps, does that mean you have a temp guage? Where's the sending unit?
