| Im lookin to put together a daily driver 1776, but with a little heat, was wondering how much a bottom end would cost to be put together. i can get most of the parts cheap, but i just need a rough estimate for boaring it out to 90.5 adn then assembling the bottom end, the top i can do myself. Also what other years, if any, does a 70 match up to? any help is greatly appreaciated. |

You should get a book and video on how to do it, then do it yourself. You'll end up with a better engine in the long run if you use the money saved from building it yourself on better parts.

I just need someone to put it together. My uncles VW race machinest is already in the middle of the Canadian F1200 series so he cant help me out with the machining, and i need it soon, the 1585 blew up  |

if your building the engine yourself, try getting thses books:
keith seume 'air-cooled VW engine interchange manual' £14.99, so bout $30.00.
bill fisher 'how to hot rod VW engines' £14.50, bout $30.00
both of these are very good book to read up on.
i was talking to a lad who runs a vw performance shop, and was told the long blocks for a 1776 start from about £3000, not cheap, but top quality parts.
im goin to be builing a 2110, an a 2007 soon, 2.1 for my dad, and the 2.0 for me :D mine will be better tho! :)
good luck with the engine. |
