Thought I'd share some photo's of the latest improvements on the Beetle. I welded the exhaust cut outs and installed the single tip exhuast. My buddy Alika helped me with finishing and paint. We had to do a little extra work to make the paint match the aged or "patina'd" look of the rest of the car. Next I will be working on the running boards and carpet

Also installed a mirror pin, Thanks Joe H. & Bill for lending me the monster hinge pin tool.

Here is my girlfriend Romy's '52.
Just bought it, after we sold her '57 oval she had for several years!
Split needs some small repairs, but it's complete and fully drivable.
4,5" narrowed beam with dropped spindles, and a few splines in the back.
It's now rollin' on the OG 5.00x16, but it will get some other wheels soon

(don't worry, the mirror is allready gone!)

Here she is with her old oval:

I know!
But I really wanted the OG 16" wheels with the car when we bought it.
Not for driving, just to keep it complete.
Can anyone tell me about the 16" wheels:
What year was the heart welded to the outer ring, and what year was the heart nailed to the outer ring.
I've got 2 wheels that are nailed, and three are welded.

Welded or riveted...

I'd like to know the same. I've pulled wheel off 3 cars in the last 6 month that had a combo of both.

Sounds similar to the "crows foot" / "non crows foot" bus wheel scenario.
