View original topic: Exhaust Q... best for a 1776?

I'm putting a 1776 in my SuperBug. What type of exhaust would you recommend?
I've been looking at the dual QuietPacks and Tri-Mill... any thoughts?
I don't want anything too loud.
Thanks!

I dont think the tri-mill is gonna work, they are LOUD. Are you gonna keep your heat or not? Performance or gas mileage?
Proly go with a single quiet pack muffler...

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, keeping heat. A good mix of performance/gas mileage... leaning more toward gas mileage as far as importance goes.

It depends on the rest of your engine combo (valve sizes, intake, etc.) - Generally, if you're running a mild setup with stock sized valves you can use the standard 1-3/8" header with QP muffler and still use the stock heaterboxes. A mild combo will be alright with the small header. If you've got a wilder 1776 with Dual 44IDFs and a big cam, you're going to have to go with a 1-1/2" header and get the big-bore heaterboxes.

FWIW, I ran a Bugpack 1-3/8" header with a "turbo" muffler in my bus for quite awhile with my 1776 (Kadrons w/30mm vents, 110 w/1.25s, 40x35 heads). It ran fine this way with plenty of low end and got good MPG around town. I wouldn't recommend this setup for super long term use, but it was fine until I got a bigger exhaust system in it.
