As some of you know Im selling the 62 Anthricite notch. Ive decided to move it on while its still fresh and not beaten on by the elements and my kids. What I need are some eBay motor tips? Is it expensive to post and put a reserve on? I was going to mail Ev directly as hes the only one I know who got some decent scratch for his 63 notch. My plan for sale so far is, Samba post, local Auto trader with surrounding counties then eBay?

How is my game plan. Im only at the samba stage now.

Hey jason you'll double your money If you part it out :P
At least you still have car to take to the panic .Talk to you soon

yeah, I saw it for sale and wondered about it.

as for ebay, 2 ways: start the bidding at what you'd like to get for it, or set the reserve, either way if it doesn't sell you still have to pay ebay their listing fees and any other you incur like pictures, reserve price, etc.

Have you tried VWType3.org yet? I know you know about it, just a suggestion.

After the "talk the walk", your car must be stock, etc etc, why again are you selling the notch? No offense ment, it's your car to do as you please. but for all the shit that was said, I'm LMAO

Jason, I sold a period 60's dragster and got 12K for it. It is a base fee of $40 for listing and $40 for selling. It doesnt run a percentage like the rest of the ebay stuff unless they changed it in the last year.

Ebay selling, yes its about $50 min to sell a car on ebay, not the % like everything else. I personally wouldnt buy a car on ebay (which I have) or sell one (which I have), however its great for getting the word out. Both of the deals ive done (buy and sell) ended up getting the parties together and we made our own deal. For the seller ebay is (or can be) a better deal than for buyers. Now for your car, to me it looks basicly like its the shiznit and nothing hiding, so it would be an exception in my book but like any old car its buyer beware. The serious person willing to pony up 10k for that car (a very fair deal if you ask me) has already seen the ad on here. That person (unless they are not smart) is NOT going to bid against the clowns on ebay that bid just to bid, unless of course it still ends up being a deal. Sellers are responsible for this too via shill bidding, driving up the price themselves. For wheels, or something, no worries, but for a car, yer talking some cash, and if you dont like what you get or feel you overpaid, you can of course turn it but basicly minimum your out shipping and some cash. I think anyone that buys a car over 4k sight unseen is bound to be surprised and most likely dissapointed. For you, set the reserve a little below bottom dollar what you are willing to sell for (this is a little different approach than for regular stuff, it costs no more here to set reserve whever you want, just know, to me, people arent serious until the reserve is met, if im bidding on something reserve not met and im outbid, oh well, if reserve is met and im outbid, someone else just stole something thats mine and I dig deeper). Put in the ad that bidders with less than 5 or 10 feedbacks need to contact you first before bidding, and seal that with a phone call. If someone cant make a phone call and ask legit questions, they arent buying the car. Experienced (and serious) bidders will not bid war against people with no feedbacks or few. Encourage people to contact you with any questions on the car and state it is of course, for sale locally. If you have personal web space make a little site with all the pictures in one place, they are all here on thesamba, but make something nice and simple that just has lots of detail in 1 place.
If someone makes you the right offer you can of course cancel the auction and its theirs, out of respect to bidders (and your highest sale price) i would NOT cancel the auction in the last 24 hours, youd be surprised what happens in even the last 5 minutes. Ive seen cars double in price, im a believer in ebay, very rarely do I not get what I want (or more) for anything on the bay..

one good aspect of ebay is that it helps if someone wants to finance the car. there are a number of companies out there that will finance an old car on ebay, which may be hard to do on a car thats not on ebay.

Come now Eric, you realy dont think I back all my vintage verbage in one car? I own a unrestored, low milage 63 sunroof notch(tits) AND a 18k vin # unrestored, unmolested Gulf blue notch(ass). The Anthy 62 was the bastard of the bunch I brought back to life. I usually dont have to talk the talk because Im living the life! 8) Ive decided to sell the car for a couple of reasons, namely do it now before time and my kids slowly destroy it. I dont have the space to put it in the garage. So Ive decided to move on with it. Besides I have plans to take over the T3 comunity a car at a time. Restore them+sell them=convert the T3 public  Oh and I never said any one had to be stock. Where you gettin that. I definatly take a stance on keeping it stock, but never that you have to. Yavoll mein heir!

JasonW, great name I might add! I actualy am doing it for the most part as you described. Ive sold many a part on ebay but never a car. All the input is greatly apriciated. The add will list on Tuesday and we shall see how it pans out I supose.

My bid is unrealistic based on the condition but it's always worth a shot...
