Just so I do not screw myself up.....if I go IRS on my 64 square will I be able to use my wide 5 setup.....do the backing plates bolt on the same way I guess would be the only problem that I may encounter....ANy ideas???

Should be no problem.

Yeah, the drums should bolt right on to the IRS stub axles. Believe it or not, but the drums and shoes are the same size from 62 to 73. :D This makes the mixing of parts easier.

So does this mean that I could use a four bolt backing plate and four bolt type 3 springs, shoes and wheel cylinders while still retaining a wide 5 drum????

No, the five lug drums will fit right over the four lug stuff.

Yes, it will swap right in place. You WILL have to remove the 4 lug drive plate first, so that the 5 lug drum will slide on. :D

Excuse my ignorance but what is the drive plate???

It's the piece that sits behide the drum that the lugs actually bolt into. You'll see when you pull the 4-lug drum off. You'll need to remove the big 36mm nut to get the drive plate off.
