The stock replacement oil filler for 1600s has the draft tube that goes straight down through the rear tin, ending in the rubber draft boot. So does the oil filler I pulled off an old 40 hp. At the Litchfield Bug-In, I found a generator pedestal/oil fill that had the draft tube going down, then bending right about three inches, then going down again. What engine does it fit?

that is for 68-73 with generator. I think it was made like that to clear the "pre heater air " piece that dreaws hot air from underneath that side of the engine to the air filter.

My '71 with an AE case has the bent one you described. I believe that it is to clear the stovepipe/preheat pipe as Keifernet said.
