1st- What is the loudest, highest performance exhaust that is street legal?
2nd-How big (wide) of tires can i fit under the stock fenders?
3rd- Has anyone tried to change the air intake to suck in air from under a deck lid that is standing off, aka raised?
thx!!

Ques. #2 I have 195's up front and 205's in back, but it really depends on the rim offset (on a 72 SB w/ Fuchs 6's and 7's)

I think I have fuchs (I've got un-polished 8-spoke empi rims)-I have the 6's-what can I fit on my car-should I get 7s for the back and 6's up front (obviously replacing the rear rims)? Or will that really help me at all? I'm running 165R15 tires right now

Q#1...stinger.
Q#3...the decklid standoff is really more beneficial for cooling. especially for early cars w/performance engines and a lack of louvers on the decklid. If you want forced induction, go turbo.

Q#1- Stingers arent street legal, unfortunately...
Q#3- true, thanks.

im not sure what offset the rims are, they are 5 hole aluminum 'American Indy Mags', supposedly kind of rare.

Q#1 I have dual QP mufflers and never had a problem. I tried a Phat-Boy and it was way too loud and too ricey sounding.

Q#2 A 205/70-15 in the rear and a 195/60/15 in front.

am i just really confused or what here.....i would think that the name quietpack would be 'quiet'...am i wrong?....and do they increase performance? ive looked at a few sites and they mentioned nothing about performance.

Check your local laws regarding legality. When I used to live in Cali, >any< modified exhaust was illegal. Wether or not you'll get pulled over for it is subjective.

On a stock motor, quietpacks aren't that much louder [db level] than a stock system, just a different sound. What makes them louder is the other modifications done to your motor. Stingers offer no performance value unless it's backed by a tuned extractor and you are driving WFO. For street use, every motor needs a little backpressure to perform better at lower RPM's. For the best performance, you'll need to match your exhaust to your other modifications. Carbs, cams, bigger valves, and headwork all need to be factored in when looking for the best performing exhaust system.

I'll vote for a Berg extractor and one of their quitepacks. They have a variety of options depending on what else has been done to your car.

i had bought a merged single QP a while ago, mostly b/c i thought it would be QUIET... i thought that was a reasonable assumption.. it's in the f*ing name after all..
it was really loud.. not an aggressive loud, not powerful loud, just sloppy loud.. waste of money..
just my $.02

A stinger with a baffle is street legal, also VWT ran an artical on A1 mufflers that makes street legal drag mufflers, they don't have a webpage but you can look up their numbers.

My brother is running a single quiet pack, which has a decent gravely sound, not loud by my standards, but not quiet either. I'm running a single hideout quitepack, which sits next to the pasenger side valve cover. It has a deep mellow sound, real nice and quiet, and has better performance than the regular quiet pack.

All due respect Terran, but in Cali any exhaust system that is modified to increase the sound from the original specs, is illegal. I'm sure all states have different laws and the even in different cities it those states the laws may differ. Like I said before, wether or not you'll get popped for such a violation is debatable.

Um... it's a caifornia company that sells to people in california. It's not modified to be loud, it just happens to be loud because of the method in which gas flows out of it.
