I just changed the plugs and wires on my stock 1600 DP. Now, it won't idle and seems to be missing, like the timing is off even though I did not move the distributor (009). It is almost like it is running on 3 cylinders. Help!

are the plugs in all the way? did you make sure the wires are routed correctly?

I think I messed up the plug wires. I just need a ride to my dad's house to check on them now...DOH!

yeah, ive sliced the insulation on the wires more than once trying to feed them behind the carb or wherever they need to go. that could also be a problem, causing the plug wire ground out

What a dumbass I am. I switched two wires and it ran fine. I had #1 and #3 backwards.

With a userid of Zundfolge, you should know the order is 1-4-3-2

If your Beetle ran for a while with the wires crossed you might want to change the oil. It could be contaminated with fuel.

It's funny. I knew the firing order (cause it was staring me in the face). I just forgot where #1 was on the dizzy for some reason. Brain fart I guess.
