View original topic: What color should I paint my 62? Picture!!!

I'm doing it the right way. I am stripping it of everything and painting the car. Under decklid, under hood, everything. Keep in mind that I drive this car everyday on the freeway, and I have no way to garage it @ night. My best possible option is to use a car cover. I plan on getting a 2 stage paint job. I currently have a 5" narrowed beam just waiting for me to put it on and I'm keeping the rear of the car stock height. I'm going to switch to the black BRM's in the near future(when I get money). I also plan to have an all tan interior with 12" insert of tweed in the seats. I live in sunny Cali if that makes a difference. I'm also going to switch back to original style running boards.

Here's a pic of my car to help you visualize:http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=79986

And here's a pic of the original color I believe, actually looks a little bit darker than mines:http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/colors/62113l380.htm

I was thinking black. Shiny black bug, black BRM's, tan interior and a fine Puerto Rican girl in the passenger seat. LoL  Ain't nuthin better than that. Ain't nuthin ever been better than that! Other than hot sex. But I'm afraid that the weather will take a toll on the black paint job real quick, but I really want it.

Thanks for looking!

IMO, nothing looks nicer than a straight clean black beetle!! What is the stock color? You plannin on painting the whole thing, interior panels, under the hood/decklid?? Please say yes.

Original torquoise, but I think the primer looks sweet too

Yes I do plan on doing it "the right way". I'm going to strip it of everything before I send it to the paint. Windows, instrument cluster, molding, running boards, and I hopefully am going to take the fenders off and have them paint them separately, so they can get inside the fender wells real nicely. I want to take the hood off but I think it would be a bitch getting the thing put back on without dropping it or somethin stupid. It's already hard just to adjust the hood.

Anything BUT turquoise! The technology for paint colors was not all that great 40 years ago. Don't just repaint it, improve it!
Well done black is impressive.

Black is always so nice but the only drawback is that the body must be really straight or the paint will show all the waves. I would add just a little blue pearl to give the paint some nice effect then clearcoat color sand and buff.

Black, though it'll show the deepest shine out of any color, will also show every single flaw in the vehicle like tiny dings and dents. I've always liked the look of burgandy, so that's my vote unless you have a completely smooth bug for the black, then it'd look awesome.
