Finally got off my dead butt this weekend & removed the pan from my "fat chick" Got a nice powdercoated one to put back under it once I fix all the rot on the bod! Ahh yes.... yet another body off the pan. Wife is gonna freak when she gets home on Sunday eve . She has seen me do this before w/other VWs & I must admit, she is coming around to the whole VW thing & what it is really all about. Any of you other folks done the "total body resto" to your Supers?

Done some regular bug and Ghia off the pan, but not a super.
I've seen it done, but it (IMO) is a bit more work since the strut/ front end stuff has to come off and the pan then is not movable like a regular type 1 chassis is.
This means you have to have helpers all the time and lots more space to do the work...
Good luck, sounds like it's going to be a nice project! |

I'm just getting ready to take the body off of my 1975 Super. I've never done it before, but felt that to do the restoration on the pans and body correctly, it's the best way to go. I bought the Bug Me Video that was very informative about all of the steps involved. I'm doing to resto in my 2 car garage... my concern is limited space, but I figure I'll work it out.
Good Luck with your project, I know that I'm going to need it on mine  |

Yeah,
It should be quite a project as this is a northeastern car
Hopefully the 67 will hold together long enough for me to finish the
Super. I have pretty much everything I need to redo this car (yeah right,
there is always something :) )however I will not rush the project especially
since this was a one owner car. I will keep y'all updated as things progress. 8) |
