hey kids,

i got myself my first car, a 1302s! :D i love it to bits but i can't work out all the ventilation controls, could you help me with them anyone?

there are two twiddlers on the dash with arrows in a circle...
there are two levers by the handbrake that go up and down...

cheers, Alex

If everything is connected properly then the two on the dash with arrows in them are for the left and right air vents on the dash, those knobs open and close the dampers in the fresh air box under the hood up front. The levers by the parking brake are for the left and right side heater vents located on the floor in the footwells and also the tubes/holes coming out from under the rear seat down at foot level. Those levers are connected by cable to the dampers on the heater boxes on the engine.

The right lever next to the brake lever opens the valves on the heater boxes. Basically this one turns on the defrosters and heater outlets under the doors next to your feet.
The left lever opens the valves in the kick panels under the rear seat. You do though have to have the right lever opened to get air out of these outlets.
The two knobs on the dash, as bugorsh stated, open the fresh air valves on your fresh air fan under the front bonnet. There is then a rotary switch at the top of the dash, next to the brake light, that will turn on the fresh air fan. If you noticed there are five defroster vents across the bottom of the windshield. the second and fourth ones are directly over two vents that point straight out from the dash. These two are your fresh air vents.

The second and fourth vents under the window and the two that face reward to the driver and passenger are the same. They all draw air from the fresh air box, plus a little from the heaters when they are on. The little toggle lever in the middle of the second and fourth vents will deflect the air up to the screen or back to the compartment, as you choose.

This may have been what you meant but I thought I would clarify further.
