my 74 with a 1600 was running like a champ but then one day it just didnt
want to idle at all.someone told me the idle jet was clogged which was correct.so i took off the carb and cleaned it really well i put it back on and it idles really well now.but the problem now is it is pinging really bad i mean really bad even just cruiseing down the highway and even worse climbing a hill and i have lost a tremendous amount of power.anyone have any ideas what could be the problem could |

| maybe one of your rods bent or broke. or did you check all the valves? |

Pinging is usually caused by either bad gas or bad timing. If your are running premium gas, check the timing, you may need to advance it a little.
