Greetings,

If this is posted in the wrong spot, my apologies. I am having a 71 Red Karmen Ghia bug convertible resored after living overseas for 9 years. It lived in the Arizona desert and is being restored by German Autowerk of Phoenix, Arizona. 8)

I shall once again depart for overseas for another undetermined length of time and seek to sell this restored bug in April to June of 05. :(

Any suggestions on what to charge? Restored means full up, interior, exterior, engine, new top and so on. Anyone interested in purchasing it? :?:

I await your wise guidence. :)

Regards,
Megilhir :D

First of all it's hard to tell exactly what you have. Is it a Karmann Ghia convertible or a Beetle convertible?

Second, once it's restored you need to look at classified ads and Ebay for your vehicle to decide what is a reasonable amount of money to ask. I just sold my 79 Super Beetle convertible so I will tell you that for something similar, if it has very low mileage and is almost completely original then you can ask over $10,000 for it and you might get it if you wait long enough.

But if it is normal mileage (over 100,000), has had a lot of parts replaced, and has been restored with repro parts, don't think about what you spent to restore it because you are not going to get that money back unless you sell it to someone who knows nothing at all about Beetles. $7-$8,000 looks to me like the going rate for a reasonably decent, reasonably used and restored example in good condition.

Third, post the ad in thesamba classifieds and not in the forums. And donate a percentage of the selling price to thesamba if it sells.
