Well if it doesn't sell by august its getting painted. Any ideas on what color or colors I should go with? OG color is black but that doesnt sound that great to me. Ideas welcome!!! my 59 rhd is going to be L451 (indian red) so I dont think I want 2 red vdubs.,

Don't know what color, but stay away from the two-tone with flames!
Actually black would be sweet if all your chrome is nice! |

In my opinion, nothing looks better than black if it is nice and straight. How bout your interior and under the hood/lid? Painted black still? Are you planning on stripping the whole car down when you paint it? if yes, paint it whatever color you want. If the inside is still black, go back to black to match. Nothing looks worse than og color on the inside and a diff. color on the outside.
If you are gonna go with a diff. color, make it a year appropriate color. |

I agree the 2 tone with flames would suck as a final paint job but I think that it looks ok as a20 minute primer job. I do paint and body and it will be painted inside and out when I do it and yes it will be completely stripped. this car was in my dads garage the last 2 years in california and came from behind chet and cliffs garage in sacto when i worked there and it was just a shell. when my dad shipped it to me here in seminole it was about 6 different colors hence the grey w/red 2 tone & flames. yes I always pick og colors for my vws (not always the correct year though) I was just looking for ideas and no offense but I hate metallic paint (especially silver). I'm thinking of and og green or maybe 2 toned with ? dont want to be trendy though!!!! (oxy-moron nowadays?)
thanks for input.......

I agree with the coral red was seriously considering that. I'm not to big on silver and I'll have to see something diamond green I'm not familiar with that color. |

This is what black and chrome looks like if you deside to go that way.
Black is realy nice but you have to keep it clean all the time, and black shows so many swirls and cratches.
But it is up to you.
Click on red X if you can't see it. |

Thanks...love the green.... i prefer non metal-flake colors though.......the hearts are way high yes I know.....They got kept off my rhd vert when I sold it and I just threw them on the repop fenders where the holes already were.......trust me they will be moved before I paint it....
thanks for all the input.....I would really like to find some doors for it to get rid of the one piece windows also....

Ruby Red,

The decklid on mine is a 53 big spring w decklid.....but....the w lids look the same on the outside up to 57 and you could adapt up to a 66 apron to work. but most purist would frown on early parts on a super.......as for me I say to each his own!!!!!!!!!!!! If you paid for the metal....do what you want with it and if people talk isht......ufck em!!!! |
