| found a 73 super beetle for sale. needs some work, cosmetic. havent heard it run yet, going to try to hear it later today. i was wondering was this, what engine is in this year car and is 1500 a good price. no rust on body everything seems tight. motor looks really good. one of the windows is off track. any info would be greatly appreciated. |

the stock engine is 1600DP. $1500 is a good price for no rust and a straight body. With some poking around, you could find some rust somewhere...They all rot under the battery, so consider that a future project. Make sure the car has never been hit, especially in the front. Open the hood and inspect the area around the struts. there should be no dents or wrinkles or obvious signs of bodywork. look under the front end to inspect the frame head and make sure all is straight and free of accident damage. The suspension can be quite finicky so everything must be straight. need to drive it to be sure of things.
the window should be an easy fix

| it depends on where you live, a not too rusty SB for $1500 would be gone in heartbeat here in the East, most of the Cali bugs for sale on theSamba would command $500 to $1000 more here |

From what you've said, and the other's have commented on, $1500 is a decent price. Let us know how it sounded, and watch for fan noise! I am having that issue right, so that's the reason I say anything. Part of my problem, is that, the car was rear-ended sometime in the past, and I didn't really find that out, until yesterday when I pulled my motor. (cracked alternator stand, should have been a dead giveaway, but sometimes I'm slow... :wink: )

| hell i bought mine for 750 the sunroof doesn't work but it ran. A little rust under the battery isn't a bad thing. I just say it helps the battery breathe. :lol: |
