| I need to know if it's possible to remove layers of paint down to the o.g. paint that's still there? The Bug started life Black, then someone basically teped off the windows and shot the whole car white.. and since then some grey primer has been added.. is there anyway I can unveil the o.g. peint? I know it's still in good condition in some spots where the white and prime have worn through.. its dark, shiny, black and thick.. (get your minds out of the gutter) Let me know. |

| Yes but it will take a lot of careful sanding and many hours. If you want to get to the orginal color why not just take it down to bare metal that way you can make sure you repair what ever needs to be taken care of and paint it back to the same color. That way you'll have a restored car looking nice and lasting for years to come. But if you just go down to the original finish, how will you know if theres no rust under that? Then you paint it and later the rust starts to come out, now you'll have to repair that at double the cost. So why not do it right the first time. |
