I had a guy come by from a local shop and give me an estimate on a paint job on my 63 kombi bus. He quoted me between 3500 and 4000 (my bus has some body issues). My question for you guys is this:
The guy from this shop told me that a single stage paint would look alot better than a dual stage base coat / clear.
My opinion has always been that the base / clear coat was a better looking paint job.
What do you guys think?

He can buy some single stage paint off of eBay for $35 a gallon. Good BC/CC is going to be a hundred or better. If it was your profit margin, which would you suggest?
The only reason I can think of for using single stage would be for a purist authentic look. BC/CC is easier to apply, looks better, and is more durable. |

| I agree with Big Jim. With a price quote of $3500-$4000 you should be able to get any kind of paint that you want, a case of beer and a lap dance or two. :P |
