in my 71 when i use the blinker i am having some trouble, when i put it on for left it is fine but when it on for a right turn it does not blink, turns out that i need to hold it just right and it will blink, can i get a replacement is there a way to fix this.

it is a simple matter of pulling the steering wheel and changing out the switch.

No problem Dan, if you need some other advice when you get to installing help is just a post away :D

actually, here is the basic procedure...

you will need a 27mm or 1 1/16 inch half inch drive socket and a 6-8" extention and ratchet to get the nut off the steering wheel

no puller is required on VW wheels, a few blows upward with both hands should get it off.

drive the car till the wheel is straight and centered and it should go back on the same.

undo the negative battery cable...

4 small head regular screws hold the switch in place...

some people cut and splice the wires when they do the switch and if yours is not then it is likely original... it takes more time but connecting the wires properly in the trunk area is the best way.

the switch will probably come with more wires than you have on yours... don't freak... they are duplicates... a grey and the green/black/white
a black and white and a black and green and maybe a brown... all can be cut off at the switch... they are not needed.

you'll see when you get the switch...
