:( I have a 58 bug, I know that year model gas tank did not have a sender. Those anyone or any place sell a gas tank with a sender for that year or is there a way to connect a sender to the stock fuel tank?

The sender you seek is the sound of the engine starving of fuel, your gas gauge is the sound of your foot hitting the reserve toggle under the dash....ha ha...

you need to investigate whether or not you can fit a later tank in your existing trunk. Sounds like a lot of work to me. Just out of curiosity why change? Do you not love the current fuel system setup? The good thing about my trunk filler gas tank is that you can open the cap and actually see how much gas is in there.... Perhaps I misunderstood your thread.... sorry I cannot be much help. I would stick to the stock ways, but that is just me. You can always get a trunk filler unit from 62 to 67, and rig up the gas gauge under the dash... too much work for me.

your gastank was used 1956-1960 contact wolfsburg west/bfy/ovals only to see if they have an accessory gas tank gauge setup.. or put ad -wanted-on the samba.it should have a reserve switch from factory as original equipement.which work fine as long as you remember to keep track of mileage and or return switch to up right position when refuelling.

:) I will check out the info you guys gave me. The only problem with the reserve is that the bug is missing it. I would have to get a new and install it. The owner before took it out
