I was just contacted by a buyer in Thailand for some small parts($20)...they offered to send USD cash (Hell no, I won't take cash through the mail...it will never arrive) How hard is it to ship USPS to Thailand (buyer's suggestion) Or am I being set up for a scam??

I took paypal from a guy in Thailand for some 914 gauges and shipped via usps, it took 4ever to get there, but it did, no way to track it. I wouldn't take cash either.

If he wants to take the responsibility, let him send cash. But make it clear that if the cash doesn't arrive, its not your fault. Since the assumption is that you are honest, you won't just say it didn't come. I've done cash in the mail before, no problems.
The post office is the way to go. If the parts are tiny, put them in a slightly larger box. In talking to friends, they say the only packages that get lost are the really small ones.

What is this guy's name? I have dealt with several buyers from Thailand and they've never done me wrong. They send US currency that is much more fresh than what I get at the bank (we're talking CRISP bills). One guy sent the money registered mail, which is good, because it protects him.

The Thai guys are a good bunch. Make sure to write clearly on the customs forms. I wrote a slash through a zero once and the guy got shafted for extra duty. I lowball the value to that don't get hurt too bad.

I have sent cash (both Euros and USD) to Germany alot of times for Ebay auctions, never had a problem once. The wire transfer charges are so expensive.

I too have received cash from a buyer in Thialand. I was a bit skeptical at first as I put a pending on some of my ads. but as mentioned before the cash came in a week and a half and I shipped the parts w/o any problems. :D

Cash in the mail is always an option with buyers outside the US due to the expense of getting some form of money order or bank check in USD that you can actually cash here. I always ask that a buyer send it certified or registered mail and well hidden...that way a postal worker ( on either end ) can't consider your new-found cash payment an added bonus.

Yeah, for a lot of international customers cash by mail is their easiest payment method...as long as they know that the risk is on their end in case of loss, by all means accept it.

Regarding Paypal, make sure when accepting payment from international bidders that you do not ship to an address that is not confirmed. If you do, you're screwed in the event of loss, damage, fraud, etc. in Paypal's eyes. Believe me, there are a LOT of compromised Paypal accounts out there.

I've never had a problem with customers in Thailand either (although Thailand is typically on most "be very careful accepting credit card payments from these countries" lists.

Just a reminder to those who send cash overseas. A registered letter means nothing once it leaves the US. Lots of extra money for nothing, send it insured instead.

That's right. Whenever I get a registered letter from the USA, it always has the return card attached. Foreign post offices don't know they are supposed to return that card; it is the confirmation. Your $10 is completely wasted, and it takes a lot longer to arrive.
