thanks,its the best paintwork/faux patina bus ive done so far,i woulda kept what was left of the original paint but it woulda just been about a 3x3 foot section if you gathered it and put it in one area,the logos were retraced and reapplied,i painted that bus the factory colors (im ashamed to admit it but it took me 2 tries) then reapplied and distressed everything,the real artwork is the bumpers,i picked out the shittiest, rustiest,most bent bumpers i had,spent a day getting them back into a presentable shape then repainted and distressed,they are really believable.
i brought the bus to one swapmeet up here and the overall feeling was that it was original,i let folks walk around it first then i explained the story,the owners from about 8 yrs ago saw it and were blown away,that was a good feeling,i felt this was the best route to take as far as a restoration is concerned,"faux replication" im sure its not everyones cup of tea but thats what makes the world go round.
the rack is a culmination of several early racks ideas melted into one,it was painted from the bottom,then "patina'd" (yes real surface rust)
i still need to fab the mounting feet

Not sure if this is already on here somewhere, I took this at a show Nov. 2007 in Sydney Australia, I have seen it at other vw shows around Sydney also. Its not mine and I dont know the owner. I do know they sell Coffee out of it at the shows and other cafe items.

There are a bunch of vintage drawings of logoed busses on this site, i think it was a whole serie of them.
But I can't find them anymore....
