Ive seen some Splits with round ones and some oval ones. I have even seen some with both round and oval. Also with only one?

Just wondering what the different years are supposed to have?

Thanks Smalls

Round are REAL splits up to Early 52, late 52-67 have the oval ones, there were accessory 3 bar ones for late 52-67

All correct deluxe splits pre Oct 52 should have two round horn grills. If one is round and the other is oval, you can pretty much bet the oval fender is not original.

Standard beetles didn't have any horn grills.

I believe standards only had one horn grille. The other fender didn't have a hole.
Anyone know who makes repro round horn grills?

Are standards worth less than a non standards or are all 1950s standard?

They started to make deluxe beetles in the middle of 49. So during 1/2 of 49 and all of 50, 51 and through Sept of 52 you could get a deluxe split window.

Not true. Standards had the horns mounted externally. There were no horngrills on standards.
Here is an example:

Deluxe beetles only had one hole, depending on right hand drive of left hand drive, thats the side the hole was on. The other side was given the same horn grill (but no hole) so it would look symetrical.

Depends. Some people love standards, some deluxes. I would say in the US, standards are rarer but the values seem to be about the same.

The car I saw had one round grill on the left and none on the right and chrome ribbed bumpers.....

Then it was missing the horn grill, that easy.

Preach on brother!

the one on the left there is no hole, however the little slots are there for the horn grill.

looked at a pic and its not super clear but it appears that there was one.

So what do you guys think a clean unrestored 50 is worth?

I know its kind of hard to say with ou t seeing it, just lookin for a ball park kinda figure? I'm just lookin for a fair deal on a Split...
