Hello everyone. This is my first post, although I have been lurking for quite a while. Lots of great info on this forum.
Now to my question....
I have recently bought a 1967 Ghia coupe to restore for my wife. It has apparently been stored in a barn for quite a few years(could be the reason for all the mice and bird nests, and the fact that every wire seems to have been gnawed through). I decided, after I tore out the entire interior, to go through the front end and get it set like I want it with drop spindles, shocks and I am currently replacing the front end brake system along with the master cylinder. It has been a blast so far. Anyway, I am having a problem removing the push rod from the brake pedal. The Bentley manual says to bend up the lock plate and remove the hinge pin after loosening the stop bracket. There are no detailed pictures here, but all I can find is what I would consider a spring clip that holds the push rod up against the pedal assembly. I removed this, but there is no way to remove the push rod due to the fact that the return spring for the pedal is in the way. I tried to remove the return spring with no luck. I tried to bang the pin around a little bit (it looks somewhat rusted) with no luck. So what I am asking is, how does this push rod come off? I am hoping to reuse it after cleaning, so I don't want to tear it up during removal. It is just very hard to see what is going on down there with all the rust and whatnot, and there is no detail in the manual for this. Also, when I removed the old master cylinder, there was only one spacer in the firewall, on the left hand side. Do I have to get another one, or is the one sufficient?
Sorry for the long post, and thanks for any info on this. |

You're picture has to be hosted on a webserver. You can't show pictures that are on your local desktop. |
