:-k I know the door ones are longer 'cause I bought a complete set of 6 and never could find two long enough to clear the light colored "trim" on the cargo doors. Yet they all cleared the interior windows. :? All 6 were roughly the same length, hole to hole. When I spoke to Bill (empicollector) he told me that the two cargo door ones were different and had two he could part with. Presto...cleared no problem. I'll go take some measurements tonight and post what I find for info's sake. |

Did some quick measurements of what I have: measurements are from hole to hole on the rods. The two I got from Bill for the cargo doors are identical. 21 1/8" long by 1" deep. By deep I mean the distance the main part of the rod is offset from the door. The others are 20 3/8" by 1/2" deep. Now the one on the front cargo door fits the OG holes spot on. The one for the rear cargo door seems a bit too long for the OG holes. I had to drill one more to make it work. So it appears they may be of a different length. I can tell more if I remove them and also measure what I assume are the OG holes. But it's raining now and I don't feel like getting wetter. :x
Edit: just went back & read what Crofty wrote and my observations seem to contradict his. :? I'm off tomorrow...weather permitting I'll take 'em off. |

Lind sent me some material out of a bay and I was able to make perfect copies by using a pair of nails clamped in a vise as a ghetto bender. Then I polished them and had them clear powdercoated. They look super nice.
Fancy Pants powdercoating maniac!
So now who's gonna bust out the flooring!?
I recently got the numbers back from Forbo, minimum order in any of the correct patterns is 10,000 sq ft at $14,000. Not only is it too rich for my blood but since there are a lot more westy flooring patterns than I originally thought, youre making that investment on ONE pattern that will please only a small segment of our already small pool of potential buyers. Sorry but Im out.
The only feasible way to custom print flooring in the original color schemes (forget proper texture) is go with a garbage flooring line, which I didnt bother investigating. |

I gave up on the flooring thing as well.
I don't like the gray, and Forbo makes other very "fifties looking" patterns that are a better match for the interior colors anyway. So I'm going with one of their patterns. |

I looked at mine again and you're right. They are deeper, not longer. |

So which is the correct length for the curtain track, 21 1/8" or 20 3/8" and what is the hole center dimension? |

I just meant I was measuring from one center of the screw hole to the other. The 20 3/8" ones go on the three driver's side windows and the longer ones on the cargo doors. My camper had no rods when I bought it so it's been a :-k ](*,) :?:  journey. |

| Ok, I understand. I'm in the same situation as you. I need some curtain track and haven't got anything to copy. Cheers. |

Anyone have a pic of what the curtain rails for the hatch on a so-42 are supposed to look like.
Mine are straight as an arrow. I dont think that is correct. They are supposed to have an "s" curve in the middle and some sort of clamp holding them in the middle...
Am I wrong??

Ollie,
The rear hatch ones have the same "s" curve as the others. On the bottom, a single slot head sheet metal screw fastens the "S" directly to the hatch. I have seen buses that did not have this screw, however.
The top has a little bracket center support that follows the curve at the top of the hatch and goes through the S curve of the curtain rod as well, but in a different way. It was made by cutting an arc out of a 3/4" length of aluminum tubing and welding a solid aluminum rivet to it. Easy to copy with some rack tubing and a rack rivet.
Here is a photo posted to the gallery by Tim which shows how the rear rods are fastened in the middle.

Okay guys, the gray bungee cord material came in. I have way more than I need, so PM me if you want some.
What I need is 18 of the "silent gliss" front curtain sliders. Used would be preferable but I would also take new stuff.
Lets help each other out! |

Sorry Woody, If I had ever gotten my order from PLF for these I would have extras. I only paid for & placed the order over a year ago! Still haven't seen 'em. |

Good stuff Chris. What kind of sliders do you need? The little halfmoon ones or the loop ones? I dont know about 18, but I do have some extras laying around. |

Hey guys I contacted Handmades.com and they mailed me a swatch. Those stripes in the plaid are only about an eighth of an inch across. It looks like a print not a weave and the black is crisp black. Anyway in my opinion it's not even close to the right look. Just FYI to save you the trouble. And thanks Dieselnut for finding the lead.

A site user recently asked for dimensions of the rear upper curtainrod center support, because he wanted to make one.
Here are photos and dimensions.
This is made out of a piece of 1/2" ID steel tubing, cut in half. A 3/16" X 1" solid steel dome head rivet is welded to it. The length of the cut piece of half tubing is 1-1/8". It appears the entire thing was clear zinc plated after having been welded. I am sure it could be rattle canned silver though, and would hold up just fine.

Does PLF still do business?
I tried contacting Dawn (i think that is her name) through email and never got a return?
Does anyone know her or how to get in contact with her?
thanks |

Do a search of PLF. You'll find feedback that is "less than flattering". Although some folks here think she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm not one of them. Many have sent her money and not seen their product for months or longer. I sent her a small amount of money via Paypal and never got my product, e-mailed her numerous times with no resonse. I still have her home number and have considered a "friendly" reminder call, but it's just not worth it. However, hearing her name or business is rubbing salt in a wound 'cause I hate thieves. |
