| I was wondering if a split window will fit any pre-super beetle hood like other bugs. I know that there if differences in the hoods as for as four tab and three tab, but I just want to know if I get a 66 hood will it fit my split? thanks |

A split window hood is a three bolt hood, meaning that the hinges attach to the hood with three bolts instead of two on a different mounting area. The hinges will be wrong, so I think you would have more to correct on your 66 hood than just the handle and emblem areas. I couldn't find a picture in the galler to illustrate this. As you probably know, there is also a triangular reinforcement plate under the emblem that you would need to fabricate.
Do you have any hood or hinges at all?
Are you using the Strictly Vintage forum? Those guys are hardcore split fanatics but you might not be treated too kindly when they find out what you are contemplating. |

Installed on my 50rag now. I purchased a real 50 hood to replace it someday but the differences are so minor that I may never do it. The hinges will fit you just cannot install the middle bolt. You could fake it with the bolt. The emblem are will need to have a slot cut for the third tab and the two other tabs will have to be filled. Other than that they are the same except the on the early splits which had no wolfsburg emblem and longer middle trim piece.

I would never get what I paid for it so I cannot see selling it for less than I bought it for. I'll get too it next year once I get the car finished.
