Did you ever get you problems solved and what was the final solution?

Panzerace 88 Mon Oct 04, 2004 7:19 am

FIXED !

The problem was alignment of the o-ring on the filler tube.

Of course, when I placed it on there, it was a perfect fit. BUT, while placing the filler tube into the tranny, the o-ring was sliding up the tube on one side, due to the tight fit into the tranny case!

As I could not see any of this, I had no idea. I broke a mirror, took a piece so that I could see what was going on, and lo and behold, I saw that the o-ring had pushed up on the side closest to the tranny.

So, I removed and VERY carefully re-installed the tube, insuring that the o-ring did not ride up. Bingo, problem solved.

Now I've got to get to the gas tank.

when you think you are going to do the tank? I might want to come down and help just so I can expierience the tank removal.

(plus no CV's are involved)

I'll be doing it this weekend. My boys are on Fall break, so I'm taking off Thur and Fri. Just give me a hollar when you've got some time, and I'll work my schedule around that.

I hate that all the info on tank removal that Ecdez put on STF is lost (I didn't print any of it).

Ecdez, you still got those pics?

ecdez Mon Oct 04, 2004 7:44 am

I sure do. I'll dig those up and post them here if STF doesn't come back up in the next couple days.

I put a pic over on the gallery section, kind of blurry, but the point is made. Is it only me that has the piss ant problems with everything I do?

Think I named the pic, Tranny leak solved, or something to that effect.

It's not just you. The problems are a plenty.

I went through my transmission seal kit twice and can't find an o-seal the right size for the governor cover. Did you have the same problem?

Panzerace 88 Mon Oct 04, 2004 11:18 am

See if I can get the gray matter working here. I know there was an issue. Seems the o-ring that fits inside the gov case appeared to be a little larger than need be. But once I snugged it into place, not a problem. I think I have a pic, let me see. Yep, I'll put on 412 gallery.

Thanks man.

Did you ever get your Muffler fixed?

Panzerace 88 Tue Oct 05, 2004 5:54 am

Negative. Tail pipe still only secured by one bolt. After looking at it, I can get to one of the broke off bolts fairly easy. But it will require a tap&die to get out, which I don't have. The other broke bolt will be harder, but with a t&d should be able to get out.
Either way, buying a new muffler or a t&d set, it's $100+. So I'll probably spring for the t&d set.
I hate trying to drill out broke bolts. Attempted it on a broke CV bolt on the Thing. Failed miserably. Finally I just stuffed the hole with a dowle to keep the grease from coming out.

Ive got a perfect stock muffler, just what you are looking for. $10

ecdez Tue Oct 05, 2004 11:18 am

Hey Deathbus, I'd still like to get those intakes from you. Let me know what it would take to get them. :P

Panzerace 88 Tue Oct 05, 2004 11:38 am

Sold. Are you going to come down this weekend while I take the gas tank out? If so, bring down the muffler. If not, I'll make a trip up to B'ham sometime and get it.

You will probably have to come up and get it, I have so much stuff on my plate right now I can barely get the time to replace my valve cover gaskets on my 412! Just let me know when you are coming up, and I will give you directions.
