| My bug is strictly dirt use only. In my experiance I have found for the desert the yokohamas are a really good tire, I use yokahama super digger 3, 33x10.5 on the rear and yokohama 720, 7.00x15 in the front, I have also used bf goodrich tires they are a lot heavier tire but they will outlast the yokohama, The bf goodrich mud ta is a really good tire. |

| yokohama super diggers are a nice round sided tire like the sand blaster. i'm sure if youre not in a rush, there will be a lot of tires available after the baja 1000. but youre right the price has been driven to almost unaffordable heights. you might be able to get the yokos or the mickeys for around 130-150 though. check also mckenzies, race ready, but i know kartek usually stocks more than everybody else. |

wrecking yards that specialize in 4x4s are a good place to look. check for cracking in the rubber on the sidewalls. this shows age and will definitely accelerate wear. other than that, the tread is the most important. make sure it is the same all the way around. my suburban developed raised "bubbles" on certain portions of the tread that caused a rough ride at slow speeds and also accelerated wear on certain portions of the tread |

| the rubber tread had begun to separate from the steel belt in certain areas - producing bubbles |
