I was looking throught the local classifieds this morning and I came across this ad "old vw bug 500$" It was in this little town on the outskirts of my town. I live in Texas so its full of these little towns. I drove about 30m to this old mans farm. He told me its in the barn. To my suprise it was a '53 oval. Complete, everything was on that car straightdown to the hubcaps. Obviously he doesn't know what its worth in that shape. Just a little dusty, its like a creamy color. Complete 36 horse, semaphores and everything. I'm thinking about buying it. I think I'm going to sell my '60 and buy the '53. Ovalburg here I come!

Ummm, you need to beg/borrow/steal that $500 and go get it ASAP.

Hell for $500, keep your 60 and still buy the 53 that way you will still have your ride while you can be working on the 53.

What's to think about? Even my broke ass wouldn't have to think about that one!

thats funny.

i talked to that old guy shortly after you left. he was mumbling something about some kid not knowing a good deal if it took a crap on his head.

i offered the guy the $500 plus a case of beer for being such a nice guy and now i'm the proud owner of an og paint 53 oval.

First I need a digital camera. I've been on the boards for a long time now and still don't have an avatar. I'm not a computer wiz I guess. One of these days I'll get Everett to put an avatar up for me.

Lotsa oddball stuff on a '53 (I am sure 53Oval will correct me if I leave anything out here, I can "rest assured" of that)-
ashtray
starter button
speedometer
Heart lights (not '53 only, but still sorta rare)

If it has those items, they alone are probably worth what you paid for the car

What did I miss, Bob?

bro2539 Sun Oct 24, 2004 4:44 pm

since you have the car now....what small town was it in? im in Ft.Worth, if it was anywhere close...ill shoot myself.
