My guess is from some really BIG parents! There is a guy in Rocky Mountain House, here in Alberta that has made a few really neat kids go cart / pedal car bodies. Sometimes you'll see him on Ebay, other times on the Alberta sites, ClubVeeDub.com and Airriders.ca. Good luck.

I remember seeing in old hot rod magazines pictures of "zingers" I think they were called? There was a Bug with a big blown Chevy V8 sticking out the top. It was about the size of that picture. I had a plastic model of it when I was a kid, that split in the pic would be cool though, I'd definately have to get one for my son! :D

These are probably worth more then real bugs in similar condition.

Below's the zingers, they're uber $$$ right now as well

So are those just pedal cars or what?

ssx Wed Oct 20, 2004 7:01 pm

I believe they were just static displays???

I doubt it. You know how difficult it would be to peddle some real rims and tires around?

Germanpride Wed Oct 20, 2004 7:15 pm

Oh shit! I didn't even realize those were that big..I just thought they were scaled down with bigger than life "motors".

Ya, those are real full sized working engines in there. The dragster (not pictured) was found recently and being restored.

If I found one, I would put it on some 20's.

Just kidding.

Wow, I forgot all about this, but when I was a little kid in the early seventies my father took his bug down to a VW dealership in southern CA, probably Orange County. Anyway, they had one of those beetles in their showroom. I thought it was fiberglass. But perhaps not. If I can recall the name of the dealership, (Don Burns VW maybe?) I will check to see if they are still in business. Maybe that little bug is still around.

For some reason, the pictures that Kubel Nick posted won’t load on my Mac.
