I spotted a blue KG toward the end of "The Laughing Policeman." The 1973 movie stars Walter Matthau, Bruce Dern and Louis Gosset Jr. There are tons of old VW's throughout the movie.

There's a red 70 (I think) sitting in the background of every episode of "Fetch" on PBS. My 5 year old daughter pointed out the "Herman Ghia" to me when she was watching it the other night.

Great link! Didn't realize the ghia had been in so many movies

About half way through the "Vampire" episode you can see a yellow KG Coupe. There are other VW's in the episode.

From A Gathering Of Old Men (1987) with Holly Hunter and Will Patton. The director was a German, Volker Schlöndorff, so I suspect he was somehow instrumental in getting the Ghia into this movie. Pics shown are 31 to 32 minutes into the movie, but the Ghia has ample exposure on many occasions.

Here's the red Ghia cabriolet in the title sequence to Once Around. Danny Aiello is supposedly in the Caddy convertible at the right singing "The Glory of Love".

In Zodiac, there is a lowlight; I'm not good enough to blurt out a year. :D It was the part of the movie where the Zodiac killer had off'ed the couple at the lake; well, the girl anyways...

I'm fairly certain that's already been mentioned. Read the book and IIRC, one of the victims was driving a lowlight Ghia and the Zodiac killer had scratched a symbol into the paint of the driver's side door.

Well, if it's already mentioned, I didn't see it. It's not like the yellow one from Starsky & Hutch has been mentioned only one time...
And, in the movie, it was on the passenger door; dunno about the book though...

As far as Zodiac, it's been 20 years since I read the book. Very fascinating considering it was an average housewife who broke the cryptic code. I heard of a theory at one time that the Unabomber was thought to also be the Zodiac killer.

Sequel to Whole 9 yards with Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry. There is a green vert parked along the street during a conversation. It is shown about 3 times.

This was already mentioned on the last page but here is the clip from the movie.

Based on the upholstery pattern (if its correct for the car), I would say its a '70.

Looks like a pretty nice Ghia.

Just before this clip, he tries out a Sunbeam Tiger and attempts to drive an Opel Manta. If memory serves me right, all three cars were used at some point during the original show.

in the movie THE ROCK nicholas cage is doing a farrari destruction scene that involves a runaway frisco trolly which in turn wipes out both a beetle and a karmann ghia. wife didn't want to back it up so i didn't get too see it for long...2 seconds or so. but some will be relieved to know that i don't think it was a lo light.

Here's a new one: in Be Kind Please Rewind with Jack Black and Mos Def, there's a 68 or 69 red KG in the junk yard. Looks like it's in decent shape for a junk yard car.
Also wants to mention on the late 60s in Kill Bill 2, I just watched it and though this funny...in scenes shot from the side or front of the car, the stock seats with headrests are installed. However, a few shots from the rear have lowback seats installed...the headrests are not removed, they're lowbacks, that way you can see Uma Thurman's hair in the wind.
