| i got my urethane type2 into type1 trans mount in the mail today from Mckenzies, anyone ever install one of these? its the one that puts the nose right where the stock one was and keeps me from having to use that funky shift rod adapter, came with good instructions and seems pretty clear. anyone have anything that would be nice to know before i start on this bad boy? |

I got one from Suspensions Unlimited a few years ago with instructions and have installed it twice. It's a piece of cake. A lot easier than hacking into the frame horns to install irs pivot brackets. While you got your welder out go ahead and fully weld the frame horn seams after you chop out the sections that need to be removed for clearance. You'll need to chop out a section of pan in front of the torsion housing for the front mount. Plan on moving your tranny a few times in and out of the car to get the best fit. Don't tighten the two rear 1/2" bolts too tight before welding the tabs on, that way there'll be clearance to remove the tranny easily without removing the rear plate. After you get it in, go out and have a good time and post some pics...
Oh, I forgot I have a few pics posted here: http://forum.4x4trailhunters.com/index.php?showtopic=1847 |

| Yeah, breaking stuff is definitely a learning experience. I welded in those plates from the rear torsion tube to the pan. I also bolted the body to the rear shock mount pillars. I had to make spacers for that due to the body lift and used 14mm bolts (1/2" bolts with nuts welded on top of the mounts would be cheaper). I'm going to modify my roll cage and make the rear area larger so I can fit a rear seat and also run tubes to the torsion housing. |

| Yeah, I have the class 11 cage. I want to run tubes over the top then bend down to the rear with two 45's. That'll give me more headroom in the back and a place to put the spare tire on top. A 36" seat should clear the torsion support tubes from the cage. |
