Over the last 6 weeks my gas milage deteriorated from 30 to 25 mpg. I could not figure out why. I checked timing, valves clearance, distributor cap and rotor, used STP gas treatment and a spray to clean the carb but nothing worked.
Finally I took it to my mechanic who told me the 12 volt choke was damaged. He replaced it an my milage is up again. I hope this helps someone else experiencing the same problem.
Sometimes the simplest of things gives you the biggest headaches. |

I'm assuming the choke was stuck partially shut then? Yes, that makes you run rich and eat up gas.
Thanks for posting the information. |

Yes, the choke was partially engaged all the time. Not only was it using more gas but I swear it was running hotter also. |
