| i`m having problems getting my hubs to seal.does anyone know where i can see a diagram for the order which the gaskets and spacers ,go in?it`s a 55 oval and the manual i`ve got is for a later car.. |

| Can't get you the diagram but once you do determine the correct order, realize that it will keep leaking until you tighten the axle nuts. |

| do you mean the 4 bolts that hold the bearing cover on?i torqued these up but still had leaks.oil is coming out round the splines on the axles. |

It will often leak until you tighten up the main large axle nut that holds the drum on.
Here's a picture of the Barndoor Bus rear axle seal layout with the "deflector" plate:

Maybe that helps you because you said you need an "early" diagram?
The order is the same as the later VWs, it just has different pieces. |

| On my '54 Truck, I had to do one side twice because it leaked out of the same area you are talking about. I didn't get the seal positioned correctly the first time. The second time it leaked a tiny bit but stopped once I torqued down the drum. |

| My seals leaked until I tightened the axle nut. Learned that from the kind folks here on thesamba. |
