I've always thought that the swing axle rear & link pin front chassis could take the most abuse as a baja, but most beetles I can find are Supers with MacPhersons.
I'd really like to make a Baja as a daily driver (and use the Kyote for summer weekends) Any cons to starting off with a Super? Should I change the suspension down the road or live with it the way it is?
I also converted my Kyote to a dual carb, which was very easy. What's a cheap HP upgrade for FI engines? (Other than displacement, I don't have the skills to build a motor)
Any advice would be great! |

I'm not going to go into details. But.... if you're using a fiberglass body, where are the top of the struts going to mount to? Fiberglass? I can tell you from experience that super beetle struts fold, crush, bend, and even come out even in the mildest off roading adventure.

| Agreed. If a Baja is what you want, find a standard donor. |

| he' canadian!! But seriously folks, you may see Supers more because that is all that is around or all the good standard bugs are being kept in the garages so they stay nice. |

But is is possible to swap out the front end of a super and replace it with an older link pin front end? I've got a spare 1960 link pin and swing axle rear in the back yard from another buggy project that I never started.
Almost every standard car I've come across is in good to mint condition, and I won't cut it up. Someday a rough one will come up or an abandoned baja project.
Thanks for the info! |

| it is possible, but its a lot of work and a bitch to lineup. if you plan on building a complete cage for this car, you can just cut off the front suspension mounts and build a tubular mount for your LP beam |
