i have a '74 sb and i just hate the padded dash that is on it now, is there anyway i can remove this and just use the metal underneath like a few older beetles?
or is there any other thing i can do with it (other aftermarket dashes that work) or am i just stuck with it? |

One of my roommates removed the padded dash in his '69. I know the later Supers had the round windshield, but I'm not sure how much the dashi itself changed.
Anyway, he stripped the padding, sanded it, filled in a few holes leftover from the padding, and had it painted with the car - looks great. |

| Supers with curved windshields (73 and newer) don't have a steel dash under the pad. |

your talking about that one from glass action right?
I was looking at that one, and i saw that placed in a ghia once and it didn't look too bad, but i never saw one in a beetle before. |

| I also have a '74 SB that has a cracked dashpad. I just (last week) got a dashboard from a scrap car and what I plan on doing is taking out the dashboard and removing the padding like someone has mentioned. Behind the padding is a metal skeleton that I plan on filling and painting. I have heard of this being done on other boards but have never seen pictures. I will let everyone know how it turns out. |

| I cant remember if I saw this ad in hot vws, or vw trends, but someone is making the padded dash boards for 73+ supers. No, this isnt the dash cover, it's the whole dash board. I believe they were 350$. |

Yes the carbon fiber parts I make are not for everyone. I wanted to make something different for the aircooled vw world. I'm finishing up the mold for a carbon fiber 911 style dash, I hope to have it done soon. For the rest of my parts, please take a look at my site www.carbonjoe.net
Thanks |

Sweet, straight from the horses mouth. :D
Im deffinatly interested in one of the 911 dashs. Are they going to come with holes in them already or flat faced so you can put gauges in where ever you please? |

| The dashes can be made either way, with or without holes. I'll send you a few pics when I get one done. |

| I have one of those GlassAction dashes...I personally don't like it, it's coming out soon! I'm not sure if it's required, but to install mine the prior owner took out all the ducts, vents, plenum box...hacked it up pretty good. I've been trying to find a good stock dash (cheap), don't think they exist. I'm going to try one of those plastic toppers on one of the cracked ones I picked up. |
