Hi all,

I need some info. I found a 55-57 rag top oval bug at a salvage yard this weekend. its in good shape. The car is rusted to the ground and hacked, but from mid door pillar on up is great shape, hardly any rust. I think i can get it farley cheep. Now my question is: Can I grart this to my 1960? i realize that i would have to cut out the entire rear section because of the oval window. I am more concerned with the door pillars being correct size. I also have a 64, would that work too?

Kasey :D Kasey do a search on this site its been covered several times. Find out what year the sunroof car is. If its a 55 or older then the clip is worth at least a grand. If its newer then graft away. I would think twice about the oval window though. It reuins the value of your car and makes you look like a poser. Just my .02.

like thebucket said, find out exactly what year it is. it is very important.

if it's a 55 3 fold ragtop assembly, DO NOT graft it into your 60. sell the assembly for a whack of cash or find a 55 or earlier car to put it in.

if it's a 56-57 2 fold clip, cut it out with about an extra 3"s on each side and graft it into your 60.

i'd skip the whole making your 60 an oval window by grafting in the rear window. super cheese if you ask me :shock: . you could sell it to an oval owner that needs it use it as a sunroof in your chevelle :wink: .

Also remember that the '56 is a one year style rag. Anybody looking at the car would know its not orig.
