| Anybody have advice on how the valve in the resevoir cap works? As best I can tell pressure from the spare tire goes through the cap pressurizing bottle. When you mve the stalk on steering column, you are opening valve letting fluid spray on windshield. Is this correct? If not, please explain how it does work. Thank you, Sam |

| That''s pretty much it from what I understand. Valve breaks or the tire is flat, and you get no water to the squirters. |

Hiya Sam,
Well, that's sorta it.
The valve in the reservoir cap allows the air pressure from the spare to pressurize the bottle. This pressure forces the windshield washer solution through the lines. It is held in check by the valve (operated by the center plunge button) on the windshield wiper switch. When that button is pushed in, it opens the valve allowing the solution through the jets and onto the windshield.
It's worth noting a couple of other items while we're at it....... The cap valve has a built in safety which will not allow the spare tire to be drained of air pressure after it hits 26lbs. Most of the windshield washer units I have reconditioned have had cap valves which do work. But it's not uncommon (at all) to find duds. Also, be sure the valve core in the hose end which hooks up to the spare is functioning as it should. And finally, if you're putting the system back into operating shape (after it has been "dead" for a while, replace ALL the rubber hosing after the washer bottle.
