hey guys,
just joined thesamba, although i've used it before when i sold my '63 Ragtop on here before.. anyway, i'm working on getting my '64 baja going, and was going to put my friend's 1.7L T4 in it, but have decided to go with a T1 instead. so i have the T4 just sitting.. it's turnkey as it sits, but has been sitting for about a year and a half... anyway, it has some dual solex 34 pict carbs w/ manifolds that fit under the decklid in his 412 wagon after he decided that fuelinjection was overrated. are these carbs worth anything? they are in good condition, and he rebuilt them.. they have way under 5k miles on them since then. car ran killer, he had custom homemade linkage that neeed re-syncing all the time, so that kinda sucked.. so, anybody know what these carbs usually go for? thanks.

I've bought 3 different sets for under $30 each, but i have also seen them go for around $75 - $100. It all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay. Chances are, the homemade linkage will not add to the value.

What is the exact designation of the carbs?

Those carbs are junk! Ive had more sets of those things than you would believe. Do yourself a favor....if you have any other scrap metal, take it and those carbs to the scrap yard and get two or three dollars for recycling them!

Any carb thats been sitting for a long amount of time, especially if it has gas in it, will not run right without a compete rebuild. I've heard some people who have never had any luck with them, and some people who swear by them. Personally, I'd rather have a set of dual 2-barrels. Somebody who's going for an original stock setup with all original parts might find them valuable.
