Its not that bad of a problem. Ive taken pride in keeping the driveway in my new house oil free until reciently. It leaks a small amount overnight and especially during breaking.

So, my question is.. How do I find the brake line under the car. Ive been looking but theres a big brace that covers the line so I cant see where its leaking from.

Remove the front wheel and you should be able to see the master cylinder on the driver's side, as well as the brake line routing from the MC to the tee where it branches off to the wheels. The leak could be coming from there, or from the wheel cylinders. Look at the bottom of the back of each wheel to see if there is leakage. The leak can also be coming from inside, where the MC protrudes into the interior by the pedals. Or it could be coming from the brake line that runs under the driver's seat along the tunnel to the back.

Is it leaking from the wheel side or the master cylinder? Both of these should be easy to determine. If its something else, like a pinched line that has broken through, replace the whole line.

AHH HAA!

Took the wheel off, make that both of them. Inspected the brake lines directly behind the wheel (good). Look down the channel inbetween the wheels, no signs of leaking. Ran my hand down the center, no signsof leaking....hmmm so I went around to the drivers side and did the same. While I was down there I noticed the "steering dampener" ??? do our cars have them?? is that what their called? Anyways, thats what was leaking (I think) is it tied into the brake fluid reseviour (sp*)???

Sounds like youare referring to the master cylinder. Are there steel lines going to it?

no...no...not the master. I put eyes on it, its doin good. Damn, I wish I had my comp, I could snap a pic of it and show ya.

Sorry. Reread the post. No the steering dampner isn't tied to the brake system. Just replacing the dampner will fix the problem.

My 74 SB did the same thing. but by the time I replaced the steering dampner it was bone dry.

O.K.

Found the problem WAS the m.c, but was leaking at the boot, so it was somewhat inside and somewhat outside.

My problem now is I cant seem to bleed the system. Everytime I push the pedal down and it comes back up theres no pressure being built inside. Any tips or suggestions?

Also, what size is the nipple on the back of the drums?

TIA.

the master is shot, you won't get it bled, you need to replace it.
