| What was the last year of production for the sedan and also the convertible. I am going to look at a 79 that the fellow says is a sedan and I thought the only one made that year was a convertible. Bill |

| Bill in 1979 They only made convertibles. They made mexican Beetles though in 1979 hartops, but Germany only made convertibles. I think this goes along with late 1978. 1977 was the last year for a hartop and you could only buy a 1977 super, there was no 1977 std Beetles produced in Germany. |

Hardtop Super production stopped in 1975, while the std continued in Germany until halfway through the 1978 model year. Imports of std Bugs to the U.S. stipped in 1977. The convertible continued through into the 1980 model year, although the chassis numbers were kept in 1979 form. |
