| I rebuilt my carb and now sometimes when i begin to rev it up it struggles and backfires. sometimes a thin white puff of smoke comes out of the top of the carb, any ideas? |

| Also how is everything else - timing, plugs, wires, valves, etc? Any of those things could have been part of the original problem as well...backfiring can be timing related... |

| It was running fine before. it has all new piston, cylinders, heads, cam. I rebuilt the carb because it was flooding everytime it got warm. Timing hasn't changed either |

Are you sure the accelerator pump is working?
Also which model carb specifically? |

Sroing goes into the carb body ( behind the square diagphram) and the "knub" on the steel center of the diaphram goes out so that the lever on the linkage rubs against it.
Check it, you may have put it together wrong.
When it is working right you should get a strong shhot of fuel out the us shaped brass "squirter tube" begining the instant you pull down on the throttle lever.
Fill the bowl with gas and test this on the workbench before putting the carb back on and adjustments and or troubleshooting are alot easier. |

| One other thing that could be wrong is if you put the vacuum line from the distributor on the wrong vacuum port and the advance isn't functioning properly now. |

Did you swith the distributor to a 009? If so make sure it is timed correctly at full advance.
Still got the original distributor? Might want to put that back on.
Oh yeah, make sure the heat risers are clear and warming up the carb. |

| it was the heat risers. i took off the carb again and the pump was working fine. i took off the intake and i couldn't even get an old throttle cable through the heat risers.FIXED!! |
