View original topic: Original A/C compressor and tank and pipes, what's it worth?

After switching from FI to carbs recently, I also pulled out most of the quite heavy dealer installed A/C on my 78 triple white.

What should I do with a compressor, belt, pipes, tank, all working or maybe not. Is it worth anything to anybody?

It would be worth the cost of shipping and handling to me.

Yeah? Where are you at? The compressor is pretty heavy, I have the belt that goes with it too, all in pretty good looking shape. The PO had actually removed the belts and the tank is empty so I don't know if it's all in working order. But again here in Central Cali there is no need for A/C.

I'm in Pendleton, OR 97801. I probably should work on the heating system first, but hey, strike when the iron's hot, right?

would you really want the whole thing?

My '79 never had AC and it gets oppressively hot here in the summer. The only AC I've ever seen was in a much older vert with add-on vents (not counting that Baja in the Dec issue of Hot VW). I'm assuming, and that's a big assumption, the in the '79, it used the fresh air vents?? Anyway, would need it all and I don't know if that would be too big a hassle for you or not. Not looking to be a burden (other than to society as a whole). Thanks again,
Wade

Well, I have most of it off the car anyway and am moving soon. Rather than throwing or moving it I'd rather have a late vert enthusiast get his hands on it.

I have still pipes on the car in some areas, let me check if I can remove it all.
