Hello all,
Quick question. I have a 74 sb that i am currently using as a daily driver (12 mile per day). It runs good, but lately the generator light keeps coming on and there is a clicking noise coming from a small metal box under the back seat behind the driver. It appears to be connected to the main wiring harness. First, what is this box and second, could this be my problem that the light is alerting me?
Thanks for your help,

The box is the voltage regulator.
The light is probibly do to warn brushes in the generator. |

Or the regulator is going out...
Inspect the brushes as Glenn suggests and check all connections.
( if your not sure on this just ask)
if the brushes look good, then I would change the regulator before it falis and possibly ruins the generator.
My experinence is that a clicking V-reg is usually on it's way out and is a warning sign |

Thanks for the information. I can drag this out so that I won't have to do as many "honey-dos" over the holiday weekend. :D

| I thought 74SB had a alternator -1973 was the year they went from generator to alternators. |
