I put a new harness in my '72 and I just have two questions. There's a cylinder-shaped electrical component with one wire coming out of it. Where does this go? Also, among the two steering column harnesses, there is a brown wire with a blue stripe coming out of each of them. Do these two connect, or are they for something else. Thanks guys!

You need to provide more for your "cylinder-shaped electrical component” Color of the thingy and color of wire may help. It almost sounds like an in-line fuse holder of which you can have two, three if someone used it for the radio too.
Your other wire:
I know of a brown and white or brown and gray but not a brown and blue. If you look at the connector that plugs into your cluster you will see numbers or letters for each wire. The brown and gray would be marked 53a (the numbers are real tiny) then that wire goes to a "T" connector that connects to the same color wire going to your wiper motor.
If its brown and white connected to the "S" terminal than that goes to the "S" terminal on your dimmer relay located on your fuse panel.
On my 72 those are the only striped brown wires coming out of the cluster.
I'm not sure if that’s what you mean but if you get the connector number/letter I can tell you where it goes regardless of the color. |
